How to care for a new tattoo

When your tattoo is complete, the tattooist will wrap the tattooed area in cling film. Please try to keep your tattoo covered until the following morning and then care for it in the following manner:

  1. Remove the cling film
  2. Wash it down with hot water and antibacterial soap
  3. Dry the tattoo with a clean towel, taking care to pat the area dry. DO NOT rub it.
  4. Apply a small ‘pea’ sized amount of BEPANTHEN nappy rash cream to your tattoo. Make sure not to apply too much. Any excess cream should be gently removed.
  5. Repeat this procedure 2 to 3 times a day for one week. After the first week, you can reduce this procedure to once a day.

During the healing process (approximately 1 to 2 weeks) it is important that you DO NOT do any of the following:

  1. Scratch or pick at your tattoo.
  2. Use sun beds.
  3. Swim
  4. Apply fake tan or any other chemical to the area.
  5. Use any cream other than BEPANTHEN as recommended by your tattooist

Failure to follow the above after instructions my result in loss of colour, fading, heaving scabbing or infection. Look after your tattoo during the healing process and you will have a tattoo you can be proud of for the rest of your life!

    Question for you….I am coming over to visit my sister from the 26th of July to the 6th of August, from Canada. I would like to get some work done while I’m there. My first question is, what is your availability like for then? Would that be a possibility?

    As promised I came back. I thought I had a good design but Kerry tirned it into a GREAT tatoo. Absolutely beautiful. Loads of people have gone nuts over it.
