Got a question about tattoos? We’ve tried to answer many of your common questions here. If you can’t find an answer on this page, please contact us.

  • What are your opening times?

    We are open 11am – 6pm Tuesday – Saturday
WE ARE CLOSED SUNDAYS AND MONDAYS.
    * Please see latest news for Season opening times and unplanned closures.

  • How do I make an appointment?

Walk ins: We are a busy shop and can not guarantee that you will be seen by an artist on the day. However If you already have an idea for a small (10x10cm or under) tattoo with a non specific artist, we usually have time during the week after 1pm. Give us a call on 02072786960 or come along to the studio and hopefully we will be able to help you.

Booking: The majority of our clients prefer to book with us to make sure they get properly allocated time with the artists. If you have an idea for a larger piece and/or you would like to guarantee time with one of our artists. Send an email to theshop@skunxtattoo.com and we can give you a time and day to come in.

  • Do you offer consultations?

Yes, consultations are free. If you’re not sure what you’d like and want to speak to an artist about your idea, we have walk in consultation spots from 11am Tuesday-Saturday. Or if you would like a specific time to come in, email theshop@skunxtattoo.com with any reference images of your idea and we can give you a time to come in.

  • How much do you charge?

We have a £80 minimum charge for all tattoos no matter the size.
The price of your tattoo will depend on the size and detail of the piece.
For larger more detailed pieces we work on a £120 an hour rate, with a day rate of £600.

We are often able to give an indication of price over email, but for larger work your artist will give you a quote during your consultation.

  • How can I pay?

Skunx Tattoo only accepts cash (there is a cash machine near by).

  • Do you require a deposit?

In order to book an appointment for a tattoo or start your project (e.g. drawing up the design) we kindly ask for a deposit to be paid beforehand.

It can be done via paypal to your artist, if you don’t have paypal, you will need to pay in cash brought to the shop.

The deposit for most of our appointments is £42 (£40 deposit which comes off the total price plus £3 paypal fee.)
A deposit for a full day is £105 (£100 which comes off the total price plus £5 PayPal fee).

Once we receive this deposit, your appointment will be secure. We recommend you do this as soon as you can! Otherwise your booking slot can be taken by someone else.

    All Deposits are non refundable.
Cancelling your appointment, failing to turn up to your appointment and re-scheduling your appointment within 24 hours of your booking forfeits the deposit. If you wish to re-book you will need to pay a deposit for the new booking.

Outside of 24 hours of your booking you can re-arrange the date of your appointment with no penalty.

  • What should I be aware of before booking my tattoo?

You must be 18 or over to have a tattoo and Photo ID will be required on the day of your appointment. (We cannot accept parental consent for under 18’s).
We unfortunately cannot tattoo you if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you have any medical conditions such as a blood borne virus etc, please make your artist aware of this during your consultation or before making your booking.

  • Can I see my design before my appointment?

For large pieces your designs are ready to view a day or two before your appointment if you want to come into the shop to see it. During your appointment there will be plenty of time to make changes with your artist before it is tattooed. Sizes and orientation can all be adjusted on the day. We do not send images/photos of designs via email.

  • Can I bring a friend/partner?

We politely ask that friends/partners are limited to 1 only during your session.

We have a comfy couch for them to sit on during your appointment if you need a bit of cheerleading/moral support, however only Skunx staff and people who are being tattooed are allowed past the counter.

Under 18’s, babies, dogs and bicycles are not permitted in the studio.

  • Do you do piercings?

Yes, view information please see our Piercing page.

  • Do you do laser removal?

We do not have the facilities to provide laser removal.

  • How do I look after my new tattoo?

Your artist will explain how they would like you to look after you tattoo, this can vary piece by piece.

Generally we recommend to do the following:

Remove your dressing after 24 hours (Unless otherwise advised by your artist ). Skunx uses a special dressing *** which stays on longer than the usual clingfilm dressing.

    – Wash your tattoo with clean hands, using warm soapy water.

    – Rinse the area with cold water and pat dry (DO NOT RUB).

    – Normal showering is fine just do not soak your tattoo or rub with a towel.

    – Apply a small ‘pea’ sized amount of “Bepanthen” to your tattoo. Make sure not to apply too much. Any excess cream should be gently removed.

    – (Unless otherwise advised by your artist ). Do not allow your tattoo to dry out.

    – Your tattoo will scab whilst it is healing, do not pick at the flakes as this can cause the colour to be pulled out.

    – Avoid swimming or suntanning until your tattoo has healed.

    – Do not apply fake tan or any other chemical to the area until healed.

    – Apply a high SPF sunblock for the life of your tattoo to prevent fading.

Failure to follow the above after instructions my result in loss of colour, fading, heaving scabbing or infection. Look after your tattoo during the healing process and you will have a tattoo you can be proud of for the rest of your life!
